Gary D. Raffel, President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Raffel is one of the principals and CEO of Raffel Senior Housing and its affiliate company, Raffel HealthCare Group, Inc., where he has been CEO since 1995. Under Mr. Raffel's guidance, Raffel HealthCare Group changed its focus to assisted living beginning in 1996, following the sale of its Baltimore City skilled nursing facilities. The Company's first assisted living facility, Catered Living of Pikesville opened in January 1998. Raffel Senior Housing was formed in 1999 to better indicate the nature of our business. Mr. Raffel was previously an attorney at the Baltimore law firm of Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander, specializing in real estate and health care law. He also clerked in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Mr. Raffel received his undergraduate degree from Clark University in 1978, and his law degree from the University of Baltimore in 1984. He is a member of the Maryland Bar, and also serves on several charitable boards, including Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc., an agency of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, and Weinberg Park, a 36 resident, non-profit assisted living facility.


William H. Hokemeyer Jr., Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Hokemeyer, a Certified Public Accountant, is also one of the principals of the Company and has been with the organization since 1990. Mr. Hokemeyer has been instrumental in facility operations and the achievement of financial stability and profitability through the implementation of finely tuned operating protocols and procedures. Mr. Hokemeyer is an expert at operations and project budgeting, reimbursement, accounting and information services. He has developed proprietary templates that the Company uses in determining the viability of new projects. Mr. Hokemeyer was previously the Controller of the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, and also worked in the health care division of Arthur Andersen and Company. Mr. Hokemeyer received his undergraduate degree from Loyola College of Baltimore. He is a member of the Maryland Association of Public Accountants.
